A much-inspired talent.
Metalwood Garage was inspired by all the many talents that Dana has. Dana loves to re-purpose more than just metal. She sees more than just a broken chain, rusty gears, and bent wheels as she picks through dumpsters, those are all parts with potential to her. Old dressers being discarded get face-lifts with paint, stencils and unique decals.
Automotive and Motorcycle parts are retrieved and completely transformed to have new life, often as tables. Barn wood, fence panels, and pallets get ripped apart and become shelves or are used to mount her art. She loves to upcycle as much as she can.
Dana usually tries to make her creations functional. As she made her first metal guitars she made them so clocks could be put in them. That wasn't function enough, she really wanted to make a Metalwood Guitar actually play. It has been done, there are metal guitars out there, but not quite like a Metalwood Guitar. She knew she would have some challenges along the way, she also knew she was not a luthier so she would need help.
On October 13, 2020, she went and visited Bowman Guitars. She brought her guitar art to Dan Bowman and asked if he would be willing to do a collaboration with her and bring one of her metal guitars to life. Dan was intrigued he thought about it and 2 weeks later they got back together to work on the first Metalwood Guitar.
You never know when inspiration will strike her, Dana is always creating new things. "I don't really consider myself a welder, I am an artist and my welder is the glue that holds my creations all together".

It all started with an idea.
Dana and Dan came together - from two different backgrounds - to bring forth a true diamond in the rough. A guitar - fully functional - made entirely of upcycled automotive and other metals.
These guitars are entirely handmade - from the fire forging of Dana’s workshop to the delicate intricates of stringing from Dan’s workbench.
