Custom Artwork and Commission Policy

Original and commissioned Metalwood Garage artwork is handled separately from print-on-demand merchandise purchased through the Shopify checkout.

Separate ordering process

Customers begin by submitting an inquiry, requesting a quote, using an artwork builder, or contacting Metalwood Garage. An inquiry is not an order, reservation, purchase, guarantee of availability, or authorization to begin work.

Quotes and estimates

Prices shown on gallery pages, builder tools, inquiry forms, or marketing materials may be starting prices or estimates. Final pricing can depend on design, materials, dimensions, component availability, fabrication, finishing, packaging, delivery, installation, and schedule.

A project becomes binding only after the applicable written quote, proposal, invoice, commission agreement, deposit terms, or other written confirmation is accepted.

Payments and deposits

Each project receives its own payment schedule. Depending on the work, Metalwood Garage may require a design fee, material or production deposit, progress payments, final payment before delivery, or separate payment for freight, installation, and special handling. Browsing, using a builder, or submitting an initial inquiry does not itself require payment unless clearly stated.

Cancellations

Commissioned and made-to-order artwork is created for a specific customer. Project cancellation terms will be included in the applicable documents. Once design, sourcing, purchasing, fabrication, or finishing begins, the customer may be responsible for completed design and labor, committed materials and components, non-cancelable vendor charges, restocking, packaging, storage, and other incurred project costs. Deposits may become non-refundable as stated in the project agreement.

Changes and approvals

Changes requested after approval of a concept, scope, materials, or production stage may require a revised quote, change order, additional payment, or revised completion estimate. Work outside the accepted scope requires written agreement.

Handcrafted variations

Metalwood Garage artwork may incorporate reclaimed, vintage, used, automotive, motorcycle, mechanical, or found components. Patina, wear, scratches, oxidation, weld and grinding marks, heat discoloration, component markings, shape, texture, and color variation are part of each piece's individuality and are not defects unless the project agreement states otherwise.

Renderings and concept images

Photographs, sketches, digital composites, AI-assisted visualizations, mockups, and renderings communicate creative direction. The physical piece may vary because of materials, engineering, available parts, fabrication techniques, lighting, scale, and artistic decisions. Only specifications expressly included in the accepted written agreement are guaranteed.

Returns and refunds

Original, personalized, commissioned, and made-to-order artwork is non-returnable and non-refundable except where required by applicable law, agreed by Metalwood Garage in writing, provided by the project agreement, or supported by a verified claim under the project terms. Artwork may not be returned without prior written authorization.

Shipping and delivery

Delivery terms are established separately and may include studio pickup, local delivery, customer-arranged transport, parcel or freight shipment, crating, white-glove delivery, signature confirmation, insurance, or installation. Customers must inspect delivered artwork promptly and preserve all packaging when damage is suspected.

Storage

If completed artwork is not collected, accepted, or deliverable within the agreed timeframe, reasonable storage, handling, redelivery, or rescheduling fees may apply when stated in the project agreement.

Controlling terms

The signed proposal, accepted quote, invoice terms, commission agreement, or other project-specific written agreement controls if it conflicts with this general website policy.
